OLD TOWN TOUR

Day Tour

Enjoy your tour of Old Town, Canada's wildest neighborhood, filled with unique architecture, cultural experiences, delicious food, and vibrant festivals (excluding date-specific events)!
Marvel at the unique architectural structures in Old Town. Explore the vibrant "matchbox" homes in N'dilo, the perched "bird houses" on Otto Drive, and the iconic "eraser house" inspired by the area's gold-mine headframes.
Floatplanes: Experience the roadless wilderness of the North by chartering a floatplane to explore the splendid East Arm of Great Slave Lake.
Wildcat Café: Visit the iconic Wildcat Café, Yellowknife's original eatery. Enjoy a delicious meal, such as a bison burger, while taking in the view of floatplanes soaring overhead.
Shacks: Discover the history of Old Town through its jerry-rigged cabins and colorful shacks. Pick up a walking guide from the visitor center to learn the intriguing stories behind each dwelling.
Bush Pilot's Monument: Visit the Bush Pilot's Monument atop "the Rock," Old Town's highest point. This monument honors the courageous pilots who played a vital role in opening up the North. Enjoy panoramic views of Back Bay, houseboats, the floatplane aerodrome, and the downtown skyline.
Ragged Ass Road: Take a stroll along Ragged Ass Road, known for its quirky name and unique charm. This dirt track is lined with homes, showcasing the area's transformation from its humble beginnings.
Bullock's: Experience a unique dining experience at Bullock's, where gourmet local game meats and fresh catches of the day are served. Enjoy the rustic ambiance adorned with patrons' graffiti on the log walls.
Cultural Exploration: Immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting art shops in Old Town. Browse through a variety of items like Inuit soapstone carvings, moosehide moccasins, and luxurious furs.
